It Follows (2014). Prettiest horror film I've seen in a while. Now on my list of Eerily Pretty Films, which includes Annihilation (2018).
I liked the idea of having the curse sexually transmitted, though at first I found it kinda corny, because then the metaphor of it being a sort of STD PSA so obvious. But I quickly forgot about it because I got too invested, trying to figure out how I'd escape Jay's situation. Really, how? If I can see it, but you can't, and they can't, how many people do I need to have around me at all times? And if we can all see it—differently—how would we know? Huh...
As I write this I began realizing that perhaps this movie does have a few similarities with Annihilation: eerily pretty, metaphor for an illness, A+ score. I also liked Maika Monroe's X tattoo. And the shell E-reader/phone. I looked it up and apparently the writers made it that way so the movie isn't tied to a specific time period. Interesting.
